Relationships take many forms, and there is no single template for what a healthy or fulfilling relationship should look like.
Yet making sense of things isn’t always easy. Therapy can offer a space to think together, be heard and to work towards clarity and change. You might be:

Searching for a way to make sense of things

We’ve become disconnected but neither of us knows why
We keep arguing about the same things and struggle to find any resolution
One of us shuts down or withdraws when things get tense
I feel lonely, even when I'm with my partner
I want to understand myself better in relationships
I’m not sure if I should stay or leave

Struggling with intimacy and connection

We've stopped being intimate and don't know how to talk about it
Our sex life has changed and it's creating tension between us
We want different things when it comes to sex and intimacy
Physical closeness feels difficult or pressured between us
Past experiences make physical closeness feel hard for me
I feel disconnected from my own body or desire

Navigating change, uncertainty, and life transitions

We've lost trust and don't know how to rebuild it
Work stress is impacting my personal life
We’re struggling to adjust to a major life change together
I'm questioning what I want from relationships
I’m at a crossroads and don’t know which direction to take
I don’t know who I am outside of my relationship or career

About Rachel Power

Certified Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist
Based in London, offering sessions online
Relationships evolve, shaped by our histories, experiences, hopes, and the challenges we encounter along the way, including the ease or difficulty we feel in being close to others. Therapy can provide a way to explore these experiences and develop a greater sense of understanding, both within yourself and in how you connect with others.
I am a BACP Registered Relationship Therapist and COSRT Registered Psychosexual Therapist, completing my training in both specialisms at Tavistock Relationships. Alongside my private practice, I have experience within the NHS and bring prior experience from Higher Education, Government, and the corporate sector to the way I work.

Starting Therapy FAQ

How do I know whether therapy is right for me?

People can wonder whether what they're experiencing is "serious enough" to bring to therapy. You may be facing a specific difficulty, feeling stuck in recurring patterns, struggling in a relationship, or simply sensing that something in your life needs attention. Often, people come not because something is broken, but because they want something to feel different. Seeking support is not a sign of failure, it can be an act of curiosity, courage, and care for yourself and your relationships.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another. We'll talk about what has led you to seek therapy, any concerns or questions you have, and what you would like support with. There is no pressure to share everything immediately. We will move at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of your needs.

Where do the sessions take place, and how regularly?

I currently work online, via Zoom. Sessions usually take place weekly, at the same time. It may be that sometimes we agree to meet fortnightly after starting our work together. It is my professional responsibility to ensure that it always feels possible for you to discuss the purpose, focus and duration of any therapy, to ensure it is meeting your needs.

Speaking and Workshops

Having worked in universities, for many years I have experience of planning and delivering high quality learning experiences for a diverse range of groups, including mid-career professionals and culturally diverse audiences. My skills in the area of teaching and learning have been formally recognised and I hold Fellowship status with Advance HE, a UK based organisation promoting evidence based teaching methods and excellence in higher education.

Since 2021 I’ve delivered sessions for the charity Breast Cancer Now focused on Relationships and Communication. Other organisations I’ve worked with include CICS (Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology) and EFMD, an international organisation dedicated to excellence in management education.

If you are considering counselling and psychotherapy focused on relationships, or psychosexual therapy you are very welcome to reach out to me.
Once you send a message I’ll usually respond between 1-2 days via email or text. I aim to respond to everyone as quickly as possible. From there we can arrange a brief call, or exchange a few emails if that feels more comfortable. This provides an opportunity to introduce ourselves, talk a little about what’s brought you to get in touch and get a sense of whether working together might be a good fit.
